Before Use: Babian’s diapers should be washed at least once before use. It is recommended that liners be washed separate of all other laundry 2-4 times although they do not become fully absorbent until closer to 8 cycles. For liners and covers, use only cloth diaper approved detergent, free of perfumes and dyes. You do not need to dry between these cycles, just rewash. For natural fibers, some shrinkage will occur.
Dirty Diaper Care: Shake or rinse off any waste from liner and dispose. Store in a diaper pail and unload and launder every two days or sooner.
Pre-Wash: Use your washing machine’s rinse cycle with cloth diaper detergent using only cold or warm water. Make sure not to overload the washer or wash with anything other than cloth diapers.
Regular Wash: Use your washers heavy cycle to finish up. For covers, cold or warm water setting is recommended and your machine’s recommended amount of cloth diaper friendly detergent.
Drying: It is recommended to air dry or line dry your cloth diapers. For liners, direct sunlight is recommended for quicker drying and bleaching from the sun. Covers should not be dried in sunlight as it will fade the colors over time. Delicate cycle or air dry cycle, tumble setting can be used for liners if you are not able to line dry.
General Care:
Diaper creams and paste are not recommended for use with cloth diapers. If you change diapers frequently, natural fibers should be gentle on baby’s skin limiting the likelihood of diaper rash.
Fabric softeners, bleach, vinegar or other detergents with perfumes or dyes should not be used on your cloth diapers. Only use detergents designed specifically for cloth diapers.
